The City Concealed: The Original Swing Street
I do so love you, Thirteen.org. This is a pretty great 10-minute documentary about West 133rd Street in Harlem, New York, where several black-owned rhythm clubs were concentrated during New York’s Golden Age of Jazz (and simultaneous swing era). Unfortunately, there’s not much mention of the dancing of the time, but the video gives a wonderfully nostalgic look at the history and culture of the area, focusing on the integration these jazz clubs fostered in the age before Civil Rights.
